Award for Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year goes to author Vahid Yaminpour.

The award for the Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year has been presented to Iranian author Vahid Yaminpour.

He won the award for his books ‘Apostasy’ and ‘The Jinja Monk’ last week.

‘Apostasy’ is an alternate history novel about the Islamic Revolution and ‘The Jinja Monk’ is the travelogue of the author from Japan.

The other nominees were director and screenwriter Jalil Saman, poets Afshin Ala and Ali-Mohammad Moaddab, and graphic artist Mohammad-Reza Doust-Mohammadi.

“This honor is so great that I am not sure if I deserve it; I don’t let the title deceive me… By this title, they want to encourage us to increase our efforts in creation of more revolutionary works,” Yaminpour said during a ceremony at the Art Bureau of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization.

The Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year was announced on the closing day of the Islamic Revolution Art Week.

The art week is annually organized to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of documentarian Seyyed-Morteza Avini who was martyred in 1993 during his last trip to the former Iraq-Iran war zone in southwest of Iran.
